DIGITAL PILL: The FDA has approved the first “digital pill.” It’s embedded with a sensor so doctors and caretakers can tell if a patient has taken their medication. Experts estimate that noncompliance to medication costs about $100 billion a year because patients get sicker. NY TIMES

BLOOD PRESSURE: The American Heart Association released new guidelines for high blood pressure: 130/80 is the new threshold, replacing the old standard of 140/90. Under this new definition of hypertension, almost half of U.S. adults now have high blood pressure. ABC NEWS
